Low-volume imaging sites go filmless with INFINITT North America’s web-based, ASP PACS offering

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ -- February 25, 2008 -

INFINITT North America (INA), a Phillipsburg, New Jersey-based PACS vendor, has launched INFINITT Smart-NET, an Application Service Provider (ASP) version of PACS that allows even small physician practices to go filmless. It may be the only approach to PACS that can be scaled for low imaging volumes, extending electronic imaging benefits to physician practices in various specialties that use images for treatment planning as well as diagnosis.

“Unlike other ASP PACS offerings, INFINITT Smart-NET is a true pay-per-procedure program that does not impose a minimum-volume charge on users,” said David Smarro, President and CEO of INA. “Most ASP PACS contracts have a base monthly charge that ensures the vendor’s return on investment.”

Moreover, the INFINITT-hosted ASP solution includes an unlimited user license, so images can be distributed to referring doctors without additional cost to the specialist or surgeon. All the referrer needs is a web portal.

According to Smarro, the INFINITT ASP PACS solution is really easy to implement. “We provide an INFINITT Smart-NET Relay Station that enables modality connectivity and transmission of images over the Internet. The INFINITT Smart-NET Relay provides data encryption and fast image compression that allows images to be uploaded quickly.”

“INA maintains three copies of each image, and takes care of all the storage, redundancy and security issues,” added Smarro. “System monitoring and management are done on our end, freeing the physician’s staff to focus on the core business of patient care.”

Depending on the needs of the user, the system can also include:

• An interface to a RIS, HIS, EMR or Practice Management System. • Embedded capabilities such as dictation, transcription and CD burning. • An optional caching server for local storage.

INFINITT has a global reputation for providing products that are flexible, products that can adapt to the functional, technological and financial needs of the users. INFINITT also offers software and templates for a wide range of specialized applications including 3D post processing, cardiology, orthopedic and CT colonography applications.
